James Watkinson

James Watkinson was born in Albany on Carmel Avenue. As an Albany High School student, Class of 1945, he spent time on the football and baseball fields. He graduated from Stanford University, and went on to have a successful career with Morton Thalhimer Inc., a commercial real estate firm.

Now retired, and living in Virginia, Watkinson wanted to do something to benefit his home town. He also wanted to remember his mother, Kathleen Watkinson, who was an Albany librarian for many years , and to honor his sister, Mary Wallmann.

Mr. Watkinson made a donation of $5,000 to the Albany Education Foundation with a request that the money be used for books and materials at the Albany High School library.
